Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate dynamic stereoacuity by varying the test distance at a constant velocity using the three-rods test, as well as to investigate the differences and correlations of dynamic stereoacuity in terms of test distance (pupillary distance) in both men and women.

Methods: We enrolled 120 adults (58 men, 62 women; mean age: 22.56¡¾2.42 years). Dynamic stereoacuity was measured three times at 2.5 m and 4 m using the threerods test after complete correction of refractive error.

Results: At the 2.5 m test distance, the mean dynamic stereoacuity was 29.89¡¾22.00" among all subjects, 28.88¡¾25.71" among men, and 31.31¡¾20.41" among women. At the 4 m test distance, it was 18.99¡¾12.06" among all subjects, 20.20¡¾13.76" among men, and 17.91¡¾11.15" among women. Dynamic stereoacuity at 4 m was better in women than in men, although not significantly (p=0.29). The difference in dynamic stereoacuity between the 2.5 m and 4 m distances was 8.68" among men and 13.40¡± among women, i.e. the improvement was 4.72" larger among women, indicating an accordant improvement in stereopsis. Pupillary distance (PD) was 66.32¡¾2.74 mm among men and 63.23¡¾3.38 mm among women, showing no significant difference (p>0.05). There were no statistically significant differences or correlations between the two distances, as classified by PD and pupil size, in the dynamic stereoacuity groups.

Conclusions: Dynamic stereoacuity may vary according to test conditions or individual characteristics, such as test distance, gender, PD, and pupil size. Dynamic stereoacuity at 2.5 m and 4 m corresponded to the normal range of 30"?50". These data could be used in various fields, such as licensing for drivers and early diagnosis of dementia.
